Klára Skalková

Klára Skalková (*2004) first encountered music thanks to her musician parents. She spent the beginning of her studies in her mother Maria Skalková's class at the Fryderyk Chopin Primary School of Arts in Mariánské Lázně. From 2021 she continued her studies in Milan Langer's class at the Prague Conservatory, and now she is studying at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna in the class of prof. Avedis Kouyoumdjian. Klára regularly participates in national and international competitions, last year she was awarded the 2nd prize at the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation Competition in Prague or received a one-time scholarship from the Yamaha Music Foundation as part of a selection competition. Prize and a special prize for the interpretation of Stravinsky/Agosti Pták Ohnivák (1st prize not awarded) in the international competition Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte, 3rd prize in the international competition Bach's Journey in Dobřany and 3rd prize in the Brno Piano Competition. In December 2022, she was awarded the title of laureate at the International Young Piano Competition of the Prague Conservatory, where she was also awarded the main prize "Talent of the Young Piano". In 2020 she was awarded the "Pilsner Orpheus" prize for representing the Pilsen Region in the field of classical music. She has already regularly collaborated with orchestras in the Czech Republic, and next season she will perform as soloist in Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in B minor with the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra. In March 2024, she had the opportunity to take part in courses at the Schiermonnikoog Music Festival in the Netherlands. For these courses she received support from the Life of an Artist Foundation. In June 2023 she was selected to attend the prestigious courses of the Academie musicale in Villecroze, France, in the class of Professor Avedis Kouyoumdjian. Klára regularly attends other courses and masterclasses under the guidance of Boris Giltburg, Yuri Shadrin, Lukáš Vondráček and Ivo Kahánek.
